Introducing Cake Lace's BRAND NEW mat. The new mat is called Oriental Blossom & Birds. It has been designed to use the papercraft technique of decoupage, which is the art of building up layers to create a design.

On the Cake Lace mat itself there are different sizes of flowers and a small stamen which can be used alone or stacked on top of each other to create more dimensional, multi-coloured flowers (as you can see in the pictures).

Cake Lace's Oriental Blossom & Birds has been designed to be versatile for a number of different occasions. The cake in the pictures uses a soft, romantic colour scheme but the branches can be inverted and made in gold Cake Lace to make thunder bolts, the birds made in black Cake Lace become ravens and make it perfect for Halloween and gothic designs! The birds can be used on their own to hold a banner and all elements are suitable for use on smaller cakes and cupcakes.

The individual elements on this mat allow for a lot of creative freedom and we're looking forward to seeing what customers create with it!

The breasts of the birds on the mat have patterns on them but are less dimensional so you can create multi-coloured 'feather' designs. This is an easy process to create by simply brushing a different colour of Cake Lace onto the breast of the bird before covering the rest of the design with another colour of Cake Lace.

Oriental Blossom & Birds can still be used in the traditional way with a single colour of Cake Lace to create gorgeous designs but the design really comes to life by using multiple colours of Cake Lace.

Cake Lace mats, as standard, have a unique '3D' effect with different levels of detail.

Use this with Cake Lace, to apply beautiful edible lace to wedding cakes, celebration cakes, or anything else.

You can attach Cake Lace using a little water on your sugarpaste or for effortless application use this broad tip water brush.

Cake Lace is so easy to use, simply make to manufacturers instructions, spread onto the mat and place in the oven at 70-80°C. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, take out of the oven and cool for five minutes, it is then ready to use. From start to finish your Cake Lace could be ready to use in less than 30 minutes.
